Marina Beach

The popularity of Marina beach started rising up after the establishment of Madras Harbour in 1881. Since then, this place started gaining attention and finally turned into a hot tourist destination of Chennai. During the 2nd decade of the 20th century, a newspaper by the name of 'New India' was run by the Great Irish woman Annie Besant, the President of Theosophical Society of India. Varkala Beach
About 45 Kms North of Trivandrum is Varkala which has laid back in a relaxed atmosphere rather than a compact crowdy beach. This beach is really undisturbed having no shops or restaurants and most of which are spread across are the two cliffs of North and South of the Papanasam beach. The wide plateau gives a panoramic view and a dip in these waters is believed to wash away the sins.
