Day 1 : Trivandrum - Kovalam by surface (16 kms)
You are welcomed at the airport by our representative and escorted to the hotel at Kovalam. After some rest, you start the tour of Trivandrum. You are taken to the famous Sree Padmanabha Temple; the temple is known for its exquisite designs and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. The mural paintings of the walls is another attraction.
We next visit the horse palace museum. It treasures numerous artefacts, paintings and other collections of the royal family of Travancore. At evening, you can stroll at the Kovalam beach. There is an overnight stay at the city.
Day 2 : Kovalam - Alleppey (176 kms)
This is a day to have a different stay experience. As you are escorted to Alleppey from Kovalam, our representative does not take you to any hotel but instead to a houseboat!
You can explore the mirrored lagoons and the backwaters of the place on a houseboat. Enjoy the bliss of nature on a houseboat for a day and night. It is also a great place to experience the magic of Ayurveda, boat racing, fishing and prawn farming.
Day 3 : Alleppey - Kumarakom (51 kms)
After a traditional breakfast, we move on to the beautiful Kumarakom. For the rest of the day you can stroll around this cluster of islands, enjoying the lush green meadows and refresh yourself. There is an overnight stay here.
Day 4 : Kumarakom - Thekkady (127 kms)
We start an early morning and after breakfast visit the Kumarakom bird sanctuary. It is spread over a massive area of 14 acres and is a natural habitat of numerous migratory birds, like the darters, teals, egrets, cuckoos and wild fowls.
After enjoying some boating and fishing, you head towards the Thekkady. You reach here at afternoon and rest at hotel till evening. We go for a motorboat ride on the crystal clear Periyar Lake and have a glimpse of the wild life. There is an overnight stay here.
Day 5 : Thekkady - Munnar (124 kms)
We have a tour of the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary to check out the thick evergreen forest, the numerous species of wild life, including the ferocious tigers and lots of elephants, playing in the lake waters. You can also enjoy some trekking here along with a visit to the spice plantations of cardamom, coffee and pepper.
At afternoon we reach Munnar. It is a hill station at the confluence of three mountain springs with wild valleys, huge tea plantations and numerous wild life species. The flora and fauna of the place gives a feel of being in heaven with breath taking natural view. There is an overnight stay at Munnar.
Day 6 : Munnar Sightseeing
Today we tour to the Eravikulam National Park which is a natural habitat for one of the endangered animal, the Nilgiri Tahr. The blue Neelakurinji flowers are also fascinating. Matuppetty and Kundala Dam are the other picturesque spots of Munnar. We visit Marayoor, known for the forest of sandalwood trees.
Witness the highest mountain peak at Anamudi Peak of South India. Enjoy some unique snaps, curios and machineries related to tea at the Tea Museum. We stay at Munnar for the night.
Day 7 : Munnar - Cochin (130 kms)
After breakfast we drive to Cochin. After lunch, we explore the city. Our first visit is to the beautiful Jewish Synagogue. The walls are tiled with Chinese tiles and consists of Belgian chandeliers. It contains the huge scrolls from the Old Testament.
We visit the oldest British made church in India, the St. Francis church and the Portuguese built Dutch Palace. This palace is a treasure house of mural paintings. At evening, you can linger at the coast, enjoying a charming sun set and experiencing the unique fishing technique of Chinese nets. There is an overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 8 : Cochin (Departure)
After a delicious traditional breakfast, our representative escort you to the Cochin airport or railway station on your way back home. End of the programme and check-in and check-out time is 12 noon at all hotels.
