Srikalahasti
Srikalahasti temple is one of the most impressive Shiva temples in India. This temple features an enormous, ancient gopuram (entrance tower) over the main gate. The tower is 36.5 m (120 ft) high. The entire temple is carved out of the side of a huge stone hill. The initial structure of this temple was constructed by the Pallava dynasty in the 5th century. The Chola kings and the Vijayanagara kings also gave great help for the temple development. Like other great temples, the construction period of Sri Kalahasthi temple lasted centuries. Around the 10th century, the Chola kings renovated the temple and constructed the main structure.
Sri Kalahasteeswara Temple
An important Shiva Kshetra in Andra Pradesh, located 40 km from Tirupati in Chittoor district. The proud temple is gigantically welcomes devotees with its four major entrances. Each entrance is beautified with tall towers called gopurams measuring 120 feet. The lamp in sanctum sanctorum is miraculous feature of this temple. The lamp flickers even in the absence of air! The skillful engineering of Yadava architecture is a awe-inspiring, they designed the sanctum in such a way that shaft of air will always present near the deity lamp and that is how the lamp continues to flick. It is renovated during 12th century, original age is unknown. Must visit temple.
Gudimallam
Gudimallam is a historical temple, dedicated to Lord shiva situated near to Renigunda railway station. The Shiva linga in this temple is the oldest Linga in India. During 1st century the lingam was discovered and installed. People believe that the lingam is manifestation of Trimurthi consist of Lord Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma. Holy Hindu shrine, attracts devotees by its serene nature.
Talakona Waterfalls
It is the highest waterfall in Andra Pradesh, measuring 82 m, surrounded by thick forest and declared as biosphere reserve by Indian government. It is rich in fauna and flora. Beautiful place for bird watching. Best picnic spot to hang on. The fresh air is unique filled with medicinal properties as this forest houses several sandal wood trees and medicinal herbs.
